OPTION C: MINING ROLE PLAY (10:00 am – 14:30 pm)

The interactive role play „Bergbau im Nebelwald“ developed by planpolitik and Intag e.V. addresses different interests, perceptions and conflict situations in the context of raw materials projects. Based on a fictitious copper mining project in Latin America, the participants are invited to adopt different perspectives (e.g., of companies, residents and public authorities) and to start negotiating with each other. Dr. Diana Ayeh and Dr. Henriette Rutjes (Helmhotz-Centre for Environmental Research, UFZ) will moderate this interactive format and guide the participants through different rounds of stakeholder debate and decision-making. Finally, the participants will discuss how the scenario relates to their own personal or professional experiences, their educational background in mining-related sciences or engineering, and the (potential) application of sustainable and ethical mining practices.

Lunch Box will be provided
