MEFORM 2025 & SFU 2025

Workshops

W1: AI-Powered automation for daily office tasks
This interactive workshop explores how artificial intelligence can enhance efficiency in everyday office tasks, such as project management, scheduling, document creation, and data analysis. Participants will learn to streamline workflows through AI tools for communication, project management, and knowledge organization. Hands-on demonstrations and group activities will enable attendees to identify and address their unique challenges, making the workshop highly practical and relevant. Designed for students, researchers, and engineers, this session provides a comprehensive introduction to leveraging AI for professional efficiency.
W2: Workflow and tools for AI-driven comprehensive, fast and effective literature review
Feeling overwhelmed by the ever-growing sea of scientific literature? Conducting thorough literature reviews is a critical but time-consuming aspect of any research project. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to leverage the power of AI-powered tools to streamline your workflow and dramatically enhance your research efficiency. This workshop will introduce you to a novel „detective mindset“ for approaching literature reviews. We’ll explore a suite of cutting-edge digital tools designed to help you quickly grasp key findings, identify emerging trends, and build a robust understanding of your research topic.  By the end of this session, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to conduct efficient, high-impact literature reviews that propel your research forward.
W3: Talking with my archive – Chatbot with own reports
In this workshop, we demonstrate how a chatbot, powered by an open-source Large Language Model (LLM), interacts with its own reports. We explain key topics such as document processing, fine-tuning of LLMs, and typical challenges in developing such systems. The focus is on explaining the system’s functionality and highlighting common pitfalls.
W4: AI-Assisted programming in Python for applications in materials mechanics and physics
This workshop covers important information about ChatGP4(o) to successfully generate Python codes to solve problems in computational materials science and mechanics, highlighted by some worked-out applications. The full work flow of AI-assisted coding is illustrated ; from (i) prompt engineering providing a powerful toolset how to give coding assignments to ChatGPT effectively, over (ii) commented code listings and (iii) tips and tricks to verify the codes in rigorous tests including human interventions to fix issues and gaps. Finally, (iv) the coding project examples are critically examined adressing strength and remaining weaknesses of the Chatbot including explicit recommendations on how to communicate with GPT. Therefore, the workshop serves as a valuable primer for both research scientists and practicing engineers in industry.

März 2025 in Freiberg stattfindet.

Workshop-Highlights:

  • Expertenvorträge: Neueste KI-Anwendungen in der Umformtechnik.
